HOTEL LIGHTING
WE DESIGN LIGHTING FOR GUEST ROOMS AND PUBLIC SPACES, CREATING A COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE AND ENHANCING INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
“In a hotel, guests may not notice the light itself, but it largely shapes their perception of space, comfort and atmosphere”
LIGHT AS PART OF THE HOTEL ATMOSPHERE
In hotel interiors, lighting works together with architecture, materials, furniture and decorative elements. It shapes the first impression of the space and accompanies guests throughout their stay.
At the same time, different areas require different lighting scenarios: expressive lighting is important in the lobby, visual comfort and relaxation in guest rooms, and precise functional lighting in bathrooms and service areas.
NLT Trade designs hotel lighting as an integrated system in which atmosphere, visual comfort and the functionality of different hotel areas complement each other.
DIFFERENT SPACES — DIFFERENT LIGHTING SCENARIOS

LOBBY & RECEPTION
Lighting shapes the first impression of the hotel, enhances the architecture and interior materials, highlights key areas and creates a comfortable atmosphere for guests.

GUEST ROOMS
Layered lighting creates scenarios for relaxation, reading and everyday activities, providing visual comfort, convenient lighting control and a welcoming atmosphere.

BATHROOMS
Functional lighting provides comfort for everyday activities, natural color rendering, visual comfort and appropriate illumination around the mirror.
Each hotel space requires its own lighting scenario, but together they should create a unified visual environment. We design lighting taking into account the purpose of each area, interior architecture and how the space is used.
LIGHTING THAT ADAPTS TO THE GUEST
A hotel room is used differently throughout the day: for relaxation, reading, work and everyday activities. Therefore, lighting should combine several layers and allow different scenarios to be created.
We design general, bedside, task and functional lighting, paying particular attention to visual comfort, glare control and intuitive operation.
Guests should not have to think about how the lighting works — the right scenario should be intuitive and natural.
LIGHTING FOR MIRRORS AND REFLECTIONS
When illuminating a mirror, it is important to light the face evenly, maintain natural skin tones and avoid pronounced shadows and glare.
For this purpose, NLT Trade uses a specialized solution with 80×40° optics that directs light simultaneously toward the mirror and the area in front of it. A low glare rating of UGR < 16 provides visual comfort, while a high color rendering index helps reproduce skin tones naturally.
This solution provides comfortable functional lighting exactly where its quality is particularly noticeable to hotel guests.
LIGHTING SCENARIOS & CONTROL
A lighting control system makes it possible to combine several groups of luminaires into intuitive scenarios, such as “Entrance”, “Relax”, “Reading”, “Night” or “All Off”.
In public spaces, lighting scenarios can change depending on the time of day, available natural light and the operating mode of individual areas.
Properly designed controls enhance guest comfort and ensure that lighting is used only when and where it is actually needed.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What color temperature is suitable for a hotel room?
Warm light is most commonly used in guest rooms to create a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation. The exact value is selected according to the interior concept, materials and purpose of the individual areas within the room.
How many lighting scenarios are needed in a hotel room?
There is no universal number. General, bedside, task, decorative and night lighting are usually considered separately. These groups can be combined into scenarios depending on the room concept and selected lighting control system.
How should bedside lighting be designed?
Bedside lighting should be comfortable for reading and relaxation without disturbing the second guest. The position of the luminaire, direction of the light and the ability to control it directly from the bedside are important.
How should a mirror in a hotel room be illuminated?
Lighting should illuminate the face evenly, reproduce skin tones naturally and avoid pronounced shadows or glare. Proper luminaire positioning, light distribution and color rendering quality are therefore important.
What information is required to develop a hotel lighting project?
Floor plans, furniture and equipment layouts, ceiling heights, interior visualizations or design project materials should be provided initially. Any missing information is clarified during the project discussion.
